AAPI Voices

Collaboration with HCRE

The youth are the progressive generation that will usher change – sustainable change. The integration with arts and education coincide with the technological modes of consumption that characterize our society. AAPI VOICES aims to serve as a creative conduit to amplify students’ voices. Disrupting established spaces, advocating for our stories and histories, and solidifying curriculum representation, we collaborate with community and organizations like Houston Collective Reimagining Education (HCRE). We together, hope to reimagine, repurpose, and transform the education system to be one that is anti-oppressive and reflects the lived experiences of students of color.

AAPI VOICES plans to continue to expand into the physical (interactive installations and performances) and digital realms (currently on soundcloud/website/tumblr). AAPI VOICES for Asian American Studies is proof that we exist, that our cultures and communities are rich in stories. We capture these voices of the times –the youth, community, and teachers gives us an authentic lens not many people are able to see. We seek to make this perspective accessible to the larger public.
